Attention voucher holders: CompTIA is dropping Prometric as a testing provider

March 9, 2012 at 9:22 am | Posted in CompTIA, Vendor news | 7 Comments

CompTIA has just announced that Pearson VUE will be the exclusive test provider for all CompTIA exams as of July 9, 2012. People with pre-existing vouchers for CompTIA exams through Prometric need to use the voucher on or before July 8, after which they will no longer be valid.

Effective immediately, CompTIA will only sell Pearson VUE vouchers through their online store. If you need to take your CompTIA exam at Prometric, then all is not lost: you can continue to purchase CompTIA vouchers directly from Prometric until May 4. Again, you should only do so if you plan to take the exam before the cutoff date of July 8.

If you’ve already purchased a CompTIA exam voucher bundled with a Transcender exam, you’re in the clear: all of our vouchers are for Pearson VUE testing centers. You can continue to purchase bundled practice tests and vouchers from us for the following tests:

  1. Thanks for the great information Transcender. I am presently in the process of teaching an A+ prep course at Pace University, and will provide this important information to my students immediately.

    • Ron, thanks for reading!

  2. That is really a negative since we have only Prometric test center and no VUE test Center near us. They told me is was one stop. What a crock!

    • Sorry to hear that the change won’t be convenient for you. If you can get enough studying in to pass your test by July, you can still use your Prometric center. Good luck!

  3. This is BS!

  4. It’s not right… there’s so many centres near me with Prometric… and now Pearson VUE is more than 300 kilometres away! That’s not even fair! Simple? No… higher cost in gas and hotel accommodation? YES!

  5. This chsange was not for the benefit of the student. It is CompTIA getting big kickbacks from VUE. The student has to drive further to take a CompTIA exam.
