Updates (to the updates) on CompTIA certification expiration

April 21, 2010 at 5:52 pm | Posted in CompTIA | Leave a comment

If you, like myself, earned a CompTIA A+, Security+, or Network+ certification between (roughly) August and December 2009, then you were probably caught in the expiration policy kerfluffle and received materials (emails, paper certificates, etc) showing an expiration date of 2012.

In response to industry and customer feedback, CompTIA modified the policy so that certification expiration will apply only to A+, Security+, or Network+ certifications earned after January 2011. So what are we to do if now that the dust has settled we’re still standing here holding a certificate with an expiration date? I am pleased to announce that the information from my online account (http://www.comptia.org/certifications/yourcertifications.aspx) has been changed:

While I’m sure that a new hardcopy of my certificate would be mailed if I were to request one, I’m satisfied with just having my online information be accurate.
